    Conklin Family Cemetary

As we all know, the Conklin family inevitably pops up in a lot of Long Island research. There is a Conklin Family cemetery.

    From Wikipedia
    *****
The Conklin family cemetery and the famous Colonial Spring-flowing out of the hillside- can be seen on the grounds of the USDAN Center for the Performing and Creative Arts in Wheatley Heights.

It's an RV park. Would anyone like to go explore the cemetery with me?

I'd really like to see the spring. I'd go.

Does this spring still exist? It is off Colonial Hills Rd in Wyandanch? Is it part of the cemetery across the street or in the Arts complex?

    From Wiki:
The Conklin family cemetery and the famous Colonial Spring-flowing out of the heavily wooded hillside- can be seen on the grounds of the USDAN Center for the Performing and Creative Arts-Henry Kaufmann Camp Grounds in Wheatley Heights. One can look out and view the distant blinking Fire Island Light from the top of the moraine in Wheatley Heights across from the Wheatley Heights Post Office. Colonial Spring water was bottled in small blue embossed "West Deer Park" bottles by the Colonial Springs Mineral Company between 1845 and 1854. The bottlers claimed it had special medicinal properties.

They're pretty strict there. I asked once, and was told no.

Is it better to ask for forgiveness that permission?

What kind of camp is it? Can you possibly sneak in there? I have been wanting to get over there for a look.

It's a youth camp, I believe. I've had cards made up, since. Most of the time, the business cards get me through. Silly, I know.
