    Ye Ole Wizard

Hello everyone.. My name is Irv but everyone calls me the Wizard. I lived in Long Island from 1964 to 1974. I just recently awoke from a ten year alcoholic coma after a dream I had about the night I spent at Ferguson's Castle in 1969.. Sober now 33 days, I have committed myself to return the favor by building a site dedicated to that memory.. As you all know the castle fell in 1970...43 years ago, so accurate information is scarce. If anyone has a story, photo, or any factual info I would greatly appreciate it.. You can read the true story here: http://fergusonscastle.com/about.html
    From there you can explore...

    Thank You All

There are a few sites out there already dedicated to the castle, just do a google search.
Call me a liar, you knew.
You were a fool, but that's cool, it's all right.
Call me the Devil, it's true.
Some can't accept but I crept inside you.

Hi Merlin. thanks for the suggestion.. but I have been searching for over a month. I've seen a few stories, some pictures of the ruins for sale and some personal opinions. "It was a big white elephant of a place" hardly accurate in description. I have tracked hundreds of art pieces in museums and art galleries around the world all at one time part of the Ferguson estate. I have also collected newspaper articles of the estate history dating back to 1909.. If you read the Mission page you will see exactly where the site intends to go. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions or links to information I may have missed..

    Thank you

    Welcome wizard.

I believe it was back in 1980-81, my girlfriend and i went to halesite to see what was left of the ferguson castle. Well, the castle itself was gone i guess for about 10 years. The gatehouse was still there(?) and a stairway that started at road level and ascended i think under the driveway (again ?) and came out up top where either the drive way was or the yard???? I have pics but they aren't that great on print film.

    Correct..

You are correct DOC.. the retaining walls, tunnel to the harbor, stairway to the
courtyard and the gatehouse itself.. along with the fountain pool all remain..
Some things like the pool are incorporated into the new condos built there..
It's ironic that the gatehouse itself is for sale for $3,000,000 when all that was
needed to save the castle was $100,000 in back taxes... and please if you have
a few minutes go to fergusonscastle.com and see some rare photos from it's
    glory days....

    Thanks

Yes, but $100,000 dollars in 1970 is worth $1,000,000+ today! Real estate speaking.

Like other landmarks being destroyed so are small sites/forums like ours here... Yea, you there have been over 100 hits but there's a good change it was just web-bots from the likes of Google and Yahoo doing the hits. Progress has brought us big BOX sites like Facebook... American's love their big boxes which just put the mom & pop places out of business...
