I live just a few minutes from where the Islip speedway used to be. My husband used to go there as a kid. there is actually a sign on 111 going east bound after you get off the southern state that says islip speedway. It is like a bronze colored sign. if anyone can find any pictures of the islip speedway that would be cool.

We are working on doing a page of all the old LI racetracks and Islip will be one of them. I am in contact with an old driver who may provide some photos and we are planning a trip to Marty Hines museum. (He collected alot of memorabilia from these places.)

yes the sign is there. if you come off the southern state exit 43 (111 islip) and go east on 111 it is on the right side past the 7-11 i believe.

I really wish at least ONE track still existed that was a little closer than Riverhead. What a shame, and since they didn't build that one at Calverton, let's face it....we're never gonna have another.
It's awesome that there are AMC Gremlins running around in that video.
