Anyone have pictures of the estate Driftwood Manor located in Wildwood State Park Wading River. I understand there is an old foundation left, did a hike there and could not find it.

And what a hike it was. Mike and I went out over the weekend in search of an old mansion that was part of Wildwood state park. Not sure if it is called driftwood or not. One of the park workers said they heard it was "someplace over there"... 700 acres is alot of ground to cover. We didnt find it, yet.

An oft forgotten resource. Maybe you can find what you want back in the 60's?
I tried the same views of the area on Historic aerials, but quite frankly I don't know where I should be looking.

Is this the Driftwood Manor you are looking for? The article says it was in Riverhead, but there are no pictures.

Wildwood state park is made up of two old estates. Wildwood estate & Driftwood estate. Driftwood was torn down back in the late 50's. I think there is still one building left from the Wildwood estate. Guest house that I think they now use for maintanance.
"Well being as there's no other place around the place, I reckon this must be the place, I reckon."
I took a walk thru there about a week ago. There are def some small older buildings around the camp grounds.

Thanks guys. We believe it was at the NE corner of the park. Looks like another trip will have to be made. And Curly, you're probably right that its called the driftwood estate.

Thanks for all your help, looks like another hike is in order. I would like to see if there is any foundation markings left.
