Thread: Best 4 wheel drive ?

I am not a fan of the Chrysler Jeeps. Nothing but problems and they really softened them up. Changing the tranny, rears, suspension to make them better on the road but much shittier off road. Hence my reasons for buying a 1986 CJ7. Last year for Cj's before they switched to the Wrangler.

I believe the TJ debuted for the 1997 model year. They went to the fully independant front and rear suspension for a better ride. I don't think it was that much better and neither did my wife. I miss it for the simple fact I could put the top down and really enjoy the nice weather. Mine was good in the snow, much better than my Altima, but I still don't think i would ever buy another one. The new ones are butt ugly to me.

In 1987 the CJ aka Civilian Jeep became the YJ aka Yuppie Jeep, lol... But honestly, the new wranglers are like a car inside, no more hosing the mud out...

They're just a little too pretty for me. (as Jeeps go) Too cushy, too polished. My Jeep is my mule not a showboat.

I can see this is a man thread. Me personally I have no use for 4 wheel drive or a jeep but if given the opportunity to go off road in the mud I would definately do that.

You can't even fold the windshield down on the new ones...

I know on the TJ's you could, but it was a pain in the ass. Plus you would rip some of the paint. Mine came with tie down straps for it. I guess the new ones don't have such a feature. Too much liability maybe.
