Old Suffolk Airport, Off Old Rriverhead road Before Francis Gabreski

The Old Suffolk air port seems to have existed before Francis Gabreski was built.
According to old maps this plot seems to be only grass and dirt, however there is no history around it online. Seems pre 1938 and it's old.

Who knows when this was built? Who used it?

It's located on Old Riverhead road right where exit 63 is now off of Sunrise Hwy.

There were a lot of old dirt airfields all over LI. I mean they were everywhere. Any open field would do.

And believe it or not the hanger from that Suffolk airport was later used by Coca-Cola as their East end Distribution warehouse....was in it many times in the early 80's. It was in the Southeast corner of what is now the 27 / Rt 31 cloverleaf.
