Not to be a wet rag, though it's something I do very well, the appearances by Mary that I've heard of take their terror simply in her appearance, rather than anything which would require special makeup. It's the brief appearance without warning which is frightening, rather than a gruesome appearance. Making the story read like a horror film would be to, in a sense, make the legends into something they're not.

I agree. She needs to appear as more of an apparition than a horror villain.

I'll actually have her as an apparition, transparent in the video (been working a bit on my special effects), and I really just want heavy mascara work done for her... to darken her eyes.
