Mary's Grave at Head of the Harbor: Just the facts ma'am

Most of us have been to Head of the Harbor to the site of Mary's Grave, Mary's Playhouse, the house with the light in the window, and yeah, it's kinda creepy there. Ever wonder what the truth is behind these places? Who built them and when? Who is buried in the graves? We took it upon ourselves to find out, and the answers to many of these questions can be found here ... http://longislandgothic.com/2009/05/...h-marys-grave/ Along the way we review Lost Suburbia and take a few pot shots at a well known paranormal investigator. Ands always, way too long and with genuine color photos.

We used to drive by that house all the time as teens in the 80's... I'll still drive by when I'm up in the area, lol...

Ok, time to go read, I scanned over it, geeze you wrote a lot, lol...

I got carried away. There's so much stuff there in that tiny little area. And to be honest, there are two more parts left to write. This just covers Harbor Hill road and parts of Harbor Road. There's still Moriches road which has some good ghost stories and other goodies. But my fingers got tired.

Thats a good read. You tell the story very well, I enjoyed it. Lots of great old stuff in that area. (I still cant find "Bull Smythe's" gravesite but Im close.......)

Not meaning to spoil your hunt, but if you look around the intersection of Moriches Road and Horse Race Lane, right hand side of the road, up on the hill you should find the Smith Family Cemetery, where the old bugger is supposed to be buried. No headstone as he was a practicing Quaker, which is odd though as he sprung for one for his boy Obadiah who is in the same cemetery I believe.

Well my directions were wrong. Got them out of a book, 50 yards west of the intersection of Moriches Rd & River Rd. I was so close. Thanks for the heads up!
