    Re: LONG ISLANDS OLD MILLS

There are a few extremely old mills in Nassau....the ones in Roslyn & Saddle Rock date from the early 1700s.

Does anybody have pictures of the Saw Mill that was in North Bellmore up until the 60s or so?

what is the difference between a grist mill and a wind mill?

    Re: LONG ISLANDS OLD MILLS

A grist mill is where grains are ground to flour. They are usually water powered but can also be wind powered.

A wind mill is driven by the wind. They were also used as grist mills, saw mills, water pumps etc.
