Old Bethpage Tower
I'm pretty sure this was once a fire tower. Cant find much info on it. Now used as a cell phone tower.
"Well being as there's no other place around the place, I reckon this must be the place, I reckon."
I BELIEVE IT! THAT TOWER HAS BEEN THERE FOR DECADES! LONG BEFORE CELL PHONES WERE POPULAR! GOOD POINT/FIND.
"YOU CAN'T STAY YOUNG FOREVER, BUT YOU CAN BE IMMATURE FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE!!"
Is that on the OBVR property? There are a lot of radio (or cell phone, now) towers in the vicinity of the LIE near Plainview/Old Bethpage.
These towers are cash cows now. We use to rent antenna space to Bell South, Sprint, etc. where I worked, and would get 50 to 60 thousand a year rent from each provider, and this was ten years ago!Multiply that by how many antennas are on a tower and you get the idea. The only thing now is the paging companies are going out of business. Everyone texts on a cell phone nowadays. No one carries a pager anymore.
Those who cannot remember the past, are condemned to repeat it. Quote, George Santayana, Philosopher, Poet 1862-1952.
I RANDOMLY SPOTTED THIS IN A CONSTRUCTION YARD NEAR WESTHAMPTON AND SHOT IT FROM THE STREET.
IS IT WHAT I'M THINKING IT IS?

It could be, but if it's a sand pit it could also be the control tower for the pit....
How about this tower at the abandoned horse race track in (manorville?) Figured it was a tower for the horse race track but its kind of small and cheesy upstairs and it's in the woods, not next to the track so im not sure.

Bruce, that Sweenydale tower is in North Bay Shore, not Brentwood. Brentwood really doesn't become 'Brentwood' until you cross the tracks before Suffolk Avenue.
