    Re: Country House Restaurant

Built in 1710 as a farmhouse by Obadiah Davis. English actor Thomas Hadaway bought the place in 1838 and used to hold seances in the house. The land was always farmed up untill the early 1900's. In 1967 it became the "1710 House Restaurant" and then later came to be known as the "Hadaway House Restaurant".

On the hill slightly north of the house is a cemetery in which 4 LI Revolutionary war patriots are buried.

Actually I believe the new member is her middle son who was at the presentation. Mary is going to join, in fact she'd love to go exploring with us sometime too. BTW....her mother had some nice history books, 2 about Patchogue and an older one about Suffolk County.....LOADED with info and old pictures. She gave them to me to borrow.......I need to make some copies.

But as for Mary and the Country House, yes, she knows the owner and last year got an OK for us to go in after hours.....should I ask her to find out about one for the near future? Ill make her sign up here tomorrow.

    Re: Country House Restaurant

Ok, ill talk to her tomorrow about the restaurant invite. Are we interested in just going there to talk to the owner about history/stories & check out the graves outback etc? Or, are we interested in doing some type of paranormal research after hours?
