I found this picture surfing the web and all it said below it was Hauppauge Race Track. Anyone know anything of a racetrack that was once in Hauppauge? I havent found anything on it so far.

How about Motor Pkwy. vanderbuilt held his cup races on that road.
"Well being as there's no other place around the place, I reckon this must be the place, I reckon."
Didnt even think of that!
Maybe deadmans curve?
Deadman's curve would have been around Bethpage, no?
I think that the Vanderbilt races took place between Westbury/Levittown in a circuit.
Bethpage yes. We visited the remains of the curve last summer. I think early on, Vanderbuilt held his cup races along the early part of the parkway, including Hauppauge. After a few bad accidents involving spectators they were then held in the area you mentioned.

I'm a bit fuzzy on my Vanderbilt Parkway history (as there's so much to it), but I'm pretty sure they didn't race that far out. I know they used to race on public roads, which was part of a circuit that incorporated a part of what would become the Motor Parkway... A couple of spectators were killed, and they outlawed public street racing. They then took up the cause to buy up tracts of land that would connect Queens to Ronkonkoma. (originally planned for Riverhead, I think)
The bandstand to the racing circuit was located in Levittown.
There was also a big push to use a section of the parkway for a runway for planes at one point. (planes practicing air warfare just off the coast of Long Island, out at sea) They ended up landing at a small airport that ran alongside the parkway. I remember reading something about the aviation club petitioning for it's own entrance to the parkway, which Vanderbilt declined. Willie K Vanderbilt was a member of that air club, I believe... if not, he was at least affiliated in some way.
From what I know there was a race track on the corner of Hoffman Lane and Town Line Rd. There was a huge patch of woods and a clearing in that area that we used to build BMX tracks on as a kid. It's now all houses and it's doubtful there's any trace of it left.
I have a Parking Ticket dated 1910 for the Vanderbilt Cup Race in Westbury. I says parking at Pratts Farm on Old Country Rd in Westbury. This was my Grandfathers farm which was across from where Roosevelt Raceway was. My father wasnt born until 1911. We found a bunch of these tickets in the attic of the familys homestead. I donated two of them to the Vanderbilt Museum in Centerport. I have been back there recently but I never see them on display.
It is a very large ticket on heavy cardboard.
Could you scan one and post it for us? I would love to see it...
