Here are some picutres we took inside a WWII submarine. They gave tours. This was also in 2005. For anyone who is wondering we went to San Francisco on our honey moon. That is where these pictures came from.

Thats the Lionfish isn't it? Gotta love the Fairbanks OP's..
If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.
sorry to say but I am not sure of the submarine's name.![]()
I was wondering are there any submarines here in NY that give tours?
Growler, part of the Intrepid. I think they reopen sometime this month for tours.

Was fishing off of Montauk sometime back in the 80's. We had a submarine surface about 50 yards off our stern. Surprised the crap out of us. It was on its way into the sub base in Groten CT. Very cool to see!
"Well being as there's no other place around the place, I reckon this must be the place, I reckon."
thanks to chrisf202 for clarifying the subs name. USS Pompanito
Chris is our resident Military expert. Thanks for the update!

NP, some other interesting naval vessel displays are:
- USS Barry, a Vietnam era destroyer at the Washington DC Navy Yard - also home to the US Navy and USMC museums - I have an excellent picture of myself "manning" one of the ship's .50 Browning M2 .50 machine guns.
- USS Olympia in Philadelphia, PA- Dewey's flagship from America's greatest (and least known) naval victory at Manila Bay in 1898 - the battle that made the US the world power it is today.
- USS Intrepid in NYC - as mentioned above - I have been there several times but I was turned off by the huge crowds.
- Some guy up in Kingston has one of the very few WWII era PT boats still in existence and he has them available for tours and pleasure cruises.
- USS Constitution in Boston, MA - one of the 6 "heavy frigates" that Congress authorized for the re-established US Navy in 1798 and became a legend in the War of 1812 and is the oldest warship still on active duty manned by an actual US Navy crew (in uniforms from the early 1800s).
I believe there are also a few dozen more historical US Navy ships and submarines that are now museum ships.
Years ago when I was a Boy Scout I spent the night on the USS Massachusetts. Pretty cool thing to do.
Call me a liar, you knew.
You were a fool, but that's cool, it's all right.
Call me the Devil, it's true.
Some can't accept but I crept inside you.
