    Hanging out in graveyards?

Anyone have favorite cemeteries on Long Island to wander or just lurk about in? The Planting Fields Arboretum is well known, and the landscape design was done by noted landscape architects, the Olmsted Brothers, who helped to develop the National Park Service, did the landscaping for Oheka Castle and whose father designed Central Park. My favorite piece of work by them though is The Memorial Cemetery of St. John's Church along Route 25A in Laurel Hollow. It's part woodland hiking trails, has some amazing tombstones and mausoleums, and is a great place to hideout for a while. I really like the old Lakeside Cemetery in Patchogue. Lots of old stones...

The Old burying ground we visited in Easthampton was neat. Lots of old 1700's stones here as well as the unusual. The Lyon Gardiner gravesite was very interesting.

I moved this topic from the general discussion to here. I did this because it deals with grave yards and it fits in this section.
