From the start of this site we always envisioned more, but we just need to get the site off the ground. It originally started with a hacked up free forum software that I integrated into a PHP website, it worked but left a lot to desire from an edit-ability standpoint.

So now almost 2 years later, although we launched the web site on July 4th, 2008 but many months of planning and coding went into it. It's funny how things start, there are 4 administrators who oversee the content and running of this site and how we came upon starting it is a story itself.

Back to the present (even though this IS a history site.) Being 1 person who knows how to code PHP and html can take a lot out of a person, you desire to get out and explore, but dread having to put your expeditions up for the world to see. So... Here we have Bygone Long Island Version 2.0!!!! The hard part is done, we have plenty of content that over a few beers and slices of DiRaimo's pizza we will get transferred to here...

I'm done reflecting, thinking of pizza and rambling for a while... I hope you enjoy our new site and I hope you decide to register yourself as a user and take advantages of the social networking abilities afforded in this platform. becoming a user here will let you interact with others who have the same memories of Long Island as you, but some of us have pictures! Please take a moment to register for the site and stop in and introduce yourself.

Till the next tine,

Allan
