• Yaphank Garage

This garage, situated off exit 67 on the Long Island Expressway is still in need of more research to the history of it. I was able to make a trip there today to snap some pictures and I lucked out, someone was there.

The garage was restored to look like the full service stations of the past. Inside sits a mannequin at a desk, a German Sheppard statue (remember the old Commander Trucks?) and many old cans and bottles. The garage area houses vehicles belonging to the SCPD Museum. there's an old Highway patrol Harley Davidson, a 1930's and 1980's era Plymouth and even a 1990's Highway patrol Chevy Camaro. Outside the garage is a 1930's era Tow truck slated to be restored, not pristine but to look like a working truck would when the station was operational.
