The Welwyn was built in the late 1910's for Harold I. Pratt. Since the house did not reflect the style of the day, it was transformed into a more acceptable Georgian-style house around 1920. The main house on the estate is now The Holocaust Memorial and Education Center of Nassau County. Behind the mansion are ruins of the garden.
