On November 11, 1991, Veterans Day, the 40-member Suffolk County Veterans Memorial Commission formally dedicated the Vietnam War Memorial at the Bald Hill site in Farmingville. The four-sided 100-foot obelisk emblazoned with the United States flagʼs stars and stripes is made of Georgia Cherokee marble and aluminum. Privately funded, the Vietnam War Memorial cost approximately $1.3 million to construct. The memorial is located on a 6.5-acre site that is 320 feet above sea level. The memorial is located on North Ocean Avenue (Rt. 83) in Farmingville.
